Tesla has done something very rare in the history of the car industry- it has grown a lot and survived successfully. That is rare because in the past decades many car companies have been closed and a few managed to survive- usually the exotic. Tesla today is a successful car company, troubling the likes of Mercedes and BMW. And the amazing part- it does it by producing just one model. And it’s fully electric.
It all started a little before 2008- when Elon Musk introduced the Tesla Roadster– the world’s first production electric car with Lithium Ion batteries and the first to have over 200 miles of range. It received mixed reviews and had a small market. But it did get the point across- over 2,200 in 3 years proved there is a market for something new.
Then came the Model S– a big, high tech savvy saloon. Prices were high, but so was the quality and praise around the world, the amount of tech, the simple design and the brilliant drivetrain. Tesla grew over night and has began offering many versions of the Model S, most notably the P85D- with almost 700 hp and faster than light speeds. Today, Tesla is selling like hot cakes, in many countries all while improving the cars for current and future owners and that is rare.
Building from this success, Tesla is building a new gigafactory, a new line of models and even home battery chargers for costumers. The future is green for Tesla- money and environment combined.
